Twigs, wire

Twig Queries is a series of sculpture-drawings made with twigs and wire. Exploring the intersection of drawing and sculpture, the works draw on the vocabulary of traditional drawing and fine craft technique. The twigs are collected from 'scrub oak' trees along the Mattabasset Trail in Connecticut and have characteristic curved terminal branches. Utilizing nickel jewelry wire, the branches are wired together into arrangements that hang on the wall and resemble hatch lines in traditional drawing.
