Bio/Statement

 

Lori Sikorski is a New York-based artist. Her work has been shown nationally in solo and group shows at venues in New York and Los Angeles including the Discovery Museum, the New Haven Historical Society,and the SOAPBOX Gallery in Brooklyn. She has received awards and grants from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and Pratt Institute. Her work is in numerous private collections.


She has been involved in higher education and secondary art school curriculums since 1997 in both teaching and administrative roles. She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and teaches Anatomy Drawing. As a Registered Nurse, she has worked in research and clinical settings and was a triage responder on 9/11.

Sikorski’s socio-critical art takes form as performative and interactive installations utilizing video, photography, drawing and objects, often relying on the viewer to complete the work. Her multi-media works explore ideas about human conditions and shared experiences.
